Black & White Portrait

Aspire Photo Challenge
I'm linking up with Aspire today, with a black & white portrait challenge! I recently took a picture that I loved of my mom, which I posted earlier this week for the I Heart Faces Smirk challenge. I edited the eyes a bit with Pioneer Woman's steps and wow did it make a difference! Let me know what you think!!

The Difference of Photoshop

Before:

After:

The first day of fall is tomorrow! I love fall! The leaves, coffee, weather, all of it! What is your favorite thing about fall?

Ugh. Humf. Gah. Etc.

So I have solved my photo space problem, but now my computer has decided to be full. No more space for me to save my edited photos too! Gah! Here are a few (un-edited) pictures to enjoy while I get my computer situation figured out. I hope this doesn't last too long and I can get it all figured out all soon. Then continue to edit photos and save them in a sinch. Wish me luck & please stay tuned because I have lots of posts in me, I just need to edit the pictures first!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

I am so grateful to everyone who commented on my last post! Thank you all so much for your help and advice. I have just decided to pay the money to expand the amount of pictures I can upload. Now here is the last question--I hope!--about this photo uploading problem! How much space do you think I need? I am thinking the 20GB should be good, but am thinking that $20 for 80GB might be overkill for one year. Leaning with the 20GB right now, any suggestions before I make the decision? Thanks again!

Also! A HUGE thank you to everyone following my blog! You make me smile ear to ear when I see that I have 14 followers!! I cannot believe that I went from 7 to 14 since Friday! You all are amazing individuals! Thank you so much for following me & please know that it means so much to me!

Help?

I'm not able to upload any more images to my photography blog. Why? Because I have supposedly filled up my picasa web album photos. Any suggestions on how to get more space without paying more & maintaining the pictures I have on my blog now? Any help would be greatly apprecaited!

Updated:
Thank you all so much for the advice! I have a quick question though, how do I switch to flickr or another web uploading site? Do I have to upload it to say flickr for example first and then have to upload it to my post? Or can I just keep up-loading my pictures as I do now? Any more advice would be appreciated!

My First Scavenger Hunt Sunday!

I recently became aware of Ashley Sisk's blog and was amazed at the beautiful pictures she took! While on her blog I also found a new photo challenge that I can participate in! It is called Scavenger Hunt Sunday and I am so excited to start participating in it this week! I love this photo challenge and think it is such a great idea! Plus, it is on Sunday so I have the whole weekend to photograph what I want to submit! Genius! Well here are my submissions to Scavenger Hunt Sunday & enjoy!
{1} Wish/Dream
I wish these blue skies would stick around for a bit longer! Fall is coming upon us quickly and these blue skies will be a rare sight in Seattle too soon! Soaking them up while I can!

{2} Clean
Clean dishes ready to be un-loaded from the dishwasher! Definitely a better job when I have some help doing it!

{3} Currency
I tried out taking pictures of coins this afternoon, but I was not liking the images I was getting at all. Yet as I was scrolling through my photos trying to find just the right one to submit, I came across this image which was perfect. Due to the fact that in our house, Starbucks is gold.

{4} Pair
One of my absolute favorite pairs of shoes of all time. Love them!

{5} Square

I love the different textures that I got in this picture with it being black and white, otherwise you would have completley missed it. Definitely my least favorite picture of the five though!

I Heart Faces ~ Week 38

Smirk is the theme at I Heart Faces this week and I took a picture of my mom this morning that I love and think would be perfect for this challenge! Let me know what you think in the comments and thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to come and read my blog!

Having Fun with the 50D!

I am looking into getting a new camera this fall & winter and was lucky enough to be in a situation to rent it before I invest! Originally I was going to rent from Glazer's camera, but a teacher at our school lent me the schools 50D with a 17-55mm lens instead! Something that would have easily cost $100+ was just handed to me at the end of the day! It was wonderful. I had been looking forward to this all week and it was finally here! I took 400 photos just this afternoon of practically everything and here are some of them! What do you think?

My Edit:

I found some challenges with this edit since it was a little too sharp for my taste and the background was white and blown out to have to proper exposure on his face. Any suggesstions on this edit would be great! I would love to have softened the photo a bit more, but don't know how! I'm glad to be participating this week & please leave a comment! Also, hit my header and see some of my pictures if you have the time! Thank you for reading! Make sure to go back to I Heart Faces to check out more fabulous edits!

Day 254

First Husky game of the season and these college boys made my day.

I Need YOUR Help!

I am off to the first Husky game of the season today, Go Huskies!, and I am at a lost of what lens to bring! I know for the details I would mainly want my 50mm lens, due to the ease and versatility of this lens. But what about past the details? Do I want to bring my fisheye to get pictures of the whole rooms? Photograph the true experience or the location or do I want my 55-250mm lens to get the close ups of the players? I'm leaning towards bringing all three right now, but need your help to know if this is even reasonable! I have brought my 55-250 previously but end up with all photos of the team playing which aren't used very much... Should I bring my 18-55mm too to get pictures of the people? Help!
Pictures from last seasons game against LSU on Sept. 5th. All photos taken with my 55-250mm lens.

Update: I brought my 55-250mm & 50mm lens and they both worked wonderfully! Thank goodness :)

PS
Today I'm keeping those who lost their lives nine years ago today in my thoughts and prayers. Not one hour will go by that I do not keep the families, friends and loved ones who lost someone they loved nine years ago today in my mind. I will never forget 9/11/2001. God Bless America.

What's most helpful?

When I post my daily photos, I often wonder if the lens that I use is important for everyone who reads my blog? I am thinking I will change it to putting the shutter speed, aperture and ISO underneath the image than the lens. What do you think? Is this more helpful or less helpful? If I don't get a response I'm just going to start adding the photo information!

Growing

I remember being in yearbook class in 8th grade, being amazed that my teacher would tell me what to set my ISO too. How did you know it should be 200? 100? What was the difference? I loved the class and loved taking pictures! Little did I know that Mr. Perreten's yearbook class would start such a large hobby for me! That summer, my parents gave me a Canon Xsi and I have grown as a photographer ever since! I had read blogs, done classes and read as much as I can about photography! I love photograpy! Never did I think this hobby would bloom into something that a friend and I would do on an afternoon! I'm loving this hobby of mine and can't wait to let it grow. I have finally transfered over to manual for most of my shooting, or at least for the last few weeks, and am loving it. I feel smart and love taking the pictures! I feel so camera-smart! Today I even went to a restaurant and took pictures of the food we were eating! Never would I have ever even thought about this before! I have definitely gotten more confident in my photography, even though yes I have had my ups and downs with my photography self-esteem, and can take pictures in public without others looking at me driving me crazy. I'm so excited what this new confidence will do to my photography!

Day 252

Shooting at Sunset

The best time of the day to take pictures is by far, sunset! I am still working on getting the perfect picture of the sunset with the right actions to go with it. So far I think some of the pictures have improved but I truly think flowers are the ones that benefit most from actions! What do you think?
Photography has become very therapeutic for me and yesterday when I was bored, it was so much fun to just go and take pictures!
